There are many ways to describe a scattered and adventurous spirit. “I have a…diverse resume,” is one comment I used recently as well as “Well…I enjoy these days while I can until I have too much wisdom to continue like this.” People will always have an opinion about the people who live the odd life…
Drew and I are surely odd in the way we live our lives. We try to buy everything thrift or nothing at all, we love grocery shopping together, and now, we live out of a backpack each.
Shortly after we got married, we lived in my sister and brother-in-law’s basement (bless their hearts!) on a twin mattress on the floor in-between the propped-up treadmill and the folders where my sister Rachel stores old magazine clippings. Rachel and Zack have an admirable lifestyle: living only with what they can afford; never using their new baby as an excuse to upgrade or “expand their ownership.” Zack is ingenuitive and eager to solve problems: a character trait that had him quickly transforming his weight-lifting system into a make-shift closet for his rag-tag in-laws.
In this extremely generous and somewhat snug environment, we worked, saved, and made plans to fly around the world.
We are just beginning our travels while simultaneously beginning our marriage together. We want to visit people, see beautiful places, and learn from those doing incredible acts of service in the world.
We have been deeply loved, deeply blessed, and deeply inspired already in the small town where our relationship began. I can only imagine what blessings are yet to come, and I pray we’ll have chances to bless others along the way.
I love you family. 🙂 I hope you’re reading.
